Henley, Quaker House - Yoga & Meditation - 10.45-12.45 Friday

We will glide through a gentle vinyasa flow yoga practice with props to assist and help everyone benefit from each pose with emphasis on alignment. During the 6 week course, we will explore and develop classic yoga postures with some playful balances and sequences thrown in, pranayama (breathing techniques), an introduction to Surya Namaskar (sun salutation) and meditation. Through movement with the breath, the slow flow will help to build strength, flexibility and knowledge as well as cultivate greater mental clarity and calm. After the slow flow we will drift and melt into a beautiful, well deserved yoga nidra followed by a 20 minute meditation.

Slow takes emphasis off accomplishing something and puts it more on experiencing something. Believe it or not, moving slow is much more work. Fast and intense may serve for a time but it is unsustainable and will invariably require some re-evaluation. In the slowness of our lives is where we are able to perceive its worth - yoga practice is no different. Slowing down and getting away from the achievement-oriented nature of life so we can learn how to take care of our subtle and sometimes ignored inner workings.
